In July 2025, Kosovo experienced a widening of its trade deficit, reaching EUR 576.4 million compared to EUR 495.9 million in the same month the previous year. This shift was due to a significant increase in imports alongside a decline in exports. Import figures rose by 13.5%, totaling EUR 660.2 million. Leading categories in imports included mineral products, which made up 13.1%, closely followed by transport equipment and prepared foods, beverages, and tobacco, each contributing 13.0%. Further notable import categories were machinery and electrical equipment at 12.0% and base metals at 8.8%. The most substantial import sources were China (14.5%), Germany (14.1%), and Turkey (12.7%).

Conversely, exports saw a decrease of 2.4%, amounting to EUR 83.8 million. The primary export category continued to be base metals, which accounted for 21.7%, followed by prepared foods at 14.2%, and plastics and rubber products at 12.5%. Miscellaneous manufactured goods comprised 8.5%, and mineral products made up 7.4% of the exports. Key destinations for Kosovo's exports included Albania at 18.0%, North Macedonia at 14.7%, and Germany at 10.5%.
