In July 2025, Singapore's bank loans reached a new peak, totaling SGD 854.0 billion, up from SGD 853.3 billion in June. This marked the highest level since the commencement of record-keeping in 1980. The growth was primarily fueled by an increase in consumer loans, which rose to SGD 334.5 billion from SGD 332.6 billion in the previous month. Among consumer loans, notable increments were observed in housing and bridging loans, which increased to SGD 238.1 billion from June's SGD 237.2 billion. Car loans saw a slight rise to SGD 8.6 billion from SGD 8.5 billion, and share financing expanded to SGD 0.56 billion from SGD 0.53 billion. Other categories of consumer lending also rose from SGD 69.7 billion to SGD 70.7 billion. Conversely, business loans experienced a small decrease, falling to SGD 519.5 billion from SGD 520.7 billion in June. This decline was predominantly attributed to sectors such as agriculture, mining, and quarrying (SGD 3.43 billion compared to SGD 3.72 billion), general commerce (decreasing to SGD 88.2 billion from SGD 90 billion), and financial and insurance activities (dropping to SGD 130.4 billion from SGD 133.4 billion).
