In July 2025, manufacturing production in the Netherlands experienced a decline of 1.4% compared to the previous month. This decrease extends the preceding month's marginal drop of 0.1% and represents the most significant reduction since September 2024. Notable decreases were observed in several sectors: food production decreased by 3.7% compared to a 0.4% rise in June; leather and footwear fell by 3.5% following a 2.3% increase; building materials dropped by 2.1% after a previous decline of 0.9%; and electrical equipment saw a sharp decline of 5.3%, reversing a 3.9% gain. Chemical production decreased slightly by 0.2% versus a 0.3% increase earlier, while pharmaceuticals saw a reduction of 0.8% compared to a significant drop of 12.1% previously. Machinery output fell by 0.8% following a 0.9% increase, and the production of other products decreased by 2%, though this was an improvement over the previous fall of 3.6%. Conversely, some sectors experienced a recovery: basic metals production rose by 0.9%, rebounding from a 9.4% decline; metal products increased by 2.8% after a 4% reduction; automotive and trailers surged by 8.7%, and furniture production rose significantly by 10.6%, both recovering from respective declines of 6.2% and 7.1%. Additional gains were noted in clothing, which increased by 0.6% compared to a previous rise of 0.2%, and textiles, which grew by 1.6% from 0.5%. Annually, manufacturing output fell by 1.1%, further deepening the 0.1% decline observed in the previous month.
