In August 2025, Uruguay experienced a slight decline in its annual inflation rate, which fell to 4.2% from 4.53% in July. This decrease was primarily attributed to more subdued price increases in several major categories. The clothing and footwear sector experienced further deflation, with prices dropping by 1.09% compared to the previous month's decline of 0.81%. Similarly, the rate of price increases in transport slowed to 1.2% from 2.14%, while furniture and home articles saw a deceleration to 1.45% from 2.64%. The information and communication sector experienced a reduced inflation rate of 4.47%, down from 5.1%. Food and beverages saw a decrease to 4.6% from 5.1%, healthcare prices slowed to 5.48% from 6.55%, and financial services dropped to 5.83% from 6.57%. However, inflation did pick up in certain areas, such as recreation and culture, which saw a slower deflation at -4.58% compared to -3.82% previously. Prices in restaurants and lodging rose to 7.22% from 7.01%, and the category of alcoholic beverages, tobacco, and gas saw inflation increase to 4.15% from 3.49%. Monthly consumer prices saw a slight decline of 0.03%, contrasting with the 0.05% increase recorded in July.
