In the second quarter of 2025, Ireland's current account surplus decreased to EUR 19.5 billion, down from EUR 35.2 billion in the same quarter the previous year. The primary income deficit rose sharply to EUR 50.1 billion, up from EUR 28.7 billion a year ago, and the secondary income deficit increased slightly to EUR 1.2 billion, compared to EUR 1.16 billion in the second quarter of 2024. Moreover, the services surplus experienced a notable decline, decreasing to EUR 12.4 billion from EUR 26.5 billion. On a positive note, the goods surplus saw a significant rise, reaching EUR 58.4 billion compared to EUR 38.6 billion in the equivalent period of the previous year.
