2025.09.0406:16:45UTC+00Norway Current Account Surplus Narrows in Q2

Norway's current account surplus experienced a slight decline, reaching NOK 217.9 billion in the second quarter of 2025, compared to NOK 218.7 billion during the same period in the previous year. This reduction is primarily attributed to a decrease in the goods account surplus, which dropped to NOK 154.6 billion from the previous NOK 191.5 billion. Additionally, there was an increase in the deficit of current transfers (secondary income), which expanded to NOK 20.1 billion from NOK 15.8 billion. However, there were some positive shifts: The shortfall in the services account reduced slightly to NOK 12.4 billion from NOK 13 billion, and the surplus in compensation of employees and investment income (primary income) rose significantly to NOK 95.8 billion, up from NOK 56.1 billion the year before.
