Among the stocks, Aviva, Croda, LondonMetric, Auto Trader, and Games Workshop witnessed declines as their shares went ex-dividend. On the FTSE 250, Drax dropped more than 8% following the announcement that the UK financial regulator has launched an investigation into its biomass pellet sourcing practices. Conversely, JD Sports Fashion, Diageo, Rentokil, and WPP saw gains, buoyed by their strong presence in the US market. Additionally, mining companies Anglo American and Rio Tinto achieved modest increases, advancing between 1% to 3%.
