In July 2025, UK car production experienced a 5.6% increase year-on-year, reaching a total of 69,127 units. This growth marked the second consecutive monthly rise, although overall output was somewhat limited due to a downturn in commercial vehicle manufacturing. Production for both domestic and export markets saw improvements, with increases of 13.6% and 3.7% respectively. The majority of output, 79.4%, was intended for overseas markets. The European Union maintained its position as the primary destination for UK car exports, comprising 45.6% of these shipments, followed by the United States at 18.1%, China at 7.7%, Turkey at 7.2%, and Japan at 3.4%. While the volume of exports to the EU and China declined by 7.9% and 7.1% respectively, exports to Turkey and Japan experienced significant growth, rising by 35.4% and 14.9%. Additionally, deliveries to the US increased by 6.8% to nearly 10,000 units, breaking a three-month streak of declines. The US remains the largest individual national market for cars manufactured in the UK, highlighting the importance of the UK-US trade agreement that came into effect on June 30. The rebound seen in July indicates the early positive impact of this trade deal.
