Slovakia recorded a trade surplus of EUR 321.6 million in February 2026, up from EUR 210.3 million in the same month a year earlier. This was the largest surplus since October of the previous year, as exports declined less sharply than imports.

Exports fell by 1.3% year-on-year to EUR 9.3 billion, mainly reflecting an almost 24% drop in shipments of mineral fuels, lubricants and related materials, including energy commodities. Sales to both EU and non-EU markets decreased, by 1% and 3% respectively.

Imports posted a steeper contraction, falling 2.5% to EUR 8.9 billion, amid continued declines across most product categories, with six out of ten sectors registering decreases. The sharpest fall was in inbound shipments of mineral fuels, lubricants and related materials, which were down 16%. Imports from EU countries rose by nearly 5%, while those from non-EU markets declined by more than 14%.
